How do I use view Weather Analytics?

Utility Impact Prediction provides Weather Analytics using the National Blend of Models (NBM) or High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR).

Weather analytics provides prediction of weather where there is overhead line mileage using wind, wet snow, ice, and heavy precipitation.

After navigating to the Utility Impact Prediction feature, Weather Analytics is set as the default prediction.

  1. Select your Region or Utility from the drop-down.
  2. Select NBM or HRRR for the forecast model.
  3. Select Wind, Wet Snow, or Ice for the forecast hazard.
NOTE: Heavy Precipitation is always displayed in the Time Series Hazard Table.
  4. Select Start Date and Start Time (EDT) (see notes below)
NOTES:
    1. There are four (4) runs per day for the NBM and the HRRR. The run times of the models are listed in Eastern time in the selection menu. The data pulled from NOAA takes up to two hours to populate on their servers. PRATUS subsequently downloads that data, which then takes up to 15 minutes to process.
    2. Each NBM run starts at 0100Z (2100 EDT of preceding day), 0700Z (0300 EDT), 1300Z (0900 EDT), 1900Z (1500 EDT). Prediction is calculated up to 168 hours.
    3. Each HRRR run starts at 0000Z (2000 EDT of preceding day), 0600Z (0200 EDT), 1200Z (0800 EDT), 1800Z (1400 EDT). Prediction is calculated up to 48 hours.
    4. To select the latest run, please select the most recent (Eastern) time plus 2 1/2 hours. If that time is greater than the current time, select the previous run time.
