Jr. Platform Engineer

As a Junior Platform Engineer, you'll: 

  • Architect and implement robust cloud infrastructure solutions on Azure. 
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and other IaC tools. 
  • Design and deploy CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes. 
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration. 
  • Configure monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) to ensure system health. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize platform performance and reliability. 

What you'll need: 

  • Strong foundation in cloud computing (Azure preferred) 
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep) 
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies 
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitHub CI/CD) 
  • Scripting skills (Python, Bash) 
  • Database administration knowledge (PostgreSQL, NoSQL)

Full Stack Developer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Technology

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Location: Hybrid, Alexandria, Virginia
Salary Range: $125K - $145K


Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Full-Stack Web Application Developer with expertise in both front-end and back-end development. As a part of our dynamic start-up, you will be instrumental in developing features in our product called PRATUS. You will be collaborating closely with the Senior Developers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and QA Engineers at Disaster Tech to build high quality software.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement responsive front-end web architectures.
  • Write effective APIs and server-side logic to integrate front-end components with server-side functionalities.
  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.
  • Ensure performance optimization of applications across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define and achieve holistic business objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews and enhance the scalability and security of applications.
  • Lead project lifecycle management from conception to deployment and maintenance.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of experience in a customer-facing SaaS production environment.
  • Proficiency in React and TypeScript or similar technologies.
  • Strong backend development skills with Node.js and Express.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Experience implementing user-centered solutions with a focus on usability.
  • Familiarity with an agile SDLC and the ability to manage ambiguities.
  • A strong commitment to code testing, adoption of best practices, and maintaining a production-quality workflow.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design experience with tools like Figma and Storybook.
  • Comfort with and frequent usage of AI systems such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
  • Experience with DevOps technologies such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Docker
  • Experience with message queueing systems such as MQTT.js and BullMQ.
  • Proficiency in Geospatial visualization technologies, such as Mapbox GL JS.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably Azure (Functions, Pipelines, Service Bus, ARM templates).
  • Experience with Microsoft Graph API and Microsoft Teams Development 

Education/Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in CS or equivalent experience
  • Technical experience in developing enterprise-level applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills
  • Prior experience working with disaster or emergency management data
  • Understanding of agile software development concepts and processes
  • Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills
  • Must be U.S. Citizen and U.S.-based with valid work authorization
  • Must be able to pass a background check for cleared work with the government
